ReadAndMark respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy applies to the iOS, iPadOS, and Android versions of the app.
Local reading features
ReadAndMark does not require a developer-operated account to use its local reading features. Your reading information is stored locally on your device and used to provide book tracking, bookmarks, reading progress, completed books, and statistics.
This information may include book titles, author names, categories, total page counts, current page or bookmark, start and completion dates, completed book records, and daily reading history. Application preferences are also stored locally.
Your reading information is not sent to a developer-operated server. If you choose cloud backup, the reading data described below is transferred to your selected cloud provider.
Optional cloud backup and restore
ReadAndMark provides optional, manually initiated cloud backup and restore:
- On iOS and iPadOS, backups are stored in the app’s private iCloud database using Apple’s CloudKit service and the Apple Account signed in on your device.
- On Android, you select a Google Account and authorize the app to store and retrieve backups in Google Drive’s hidden application data folder.
Backups contain the current book, completed books, and reading history, including the reading information listed above. They also contain the backup creation date and format version. App preferences and Premium purchase entitlements are not included in these manual reading-data backups.
Backup and restore occur when you request them in the app. This feature does not continuously synchronize changes between devices. Creating a new backup updates or replaces the backup used by the app in the same cloud account. Restoring a backup replaces the current local reading data with the saved data; it does not merge the two collections.
To restore, use the same account and cloud service used to create the backup. iCloud and Google Drive backups are separate and do not automatically transfer between Apple and Android devices.
Your backup is transferred between the app and Apple or Google through their services. It is not sent to a developer-operated server.
Google Drive access and Google user data
On Android, ReadAndMark requests the Google Drive application data permission (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.appdata) solely to create, locate, update, and retrieve its reading-data backup.
This permission does not give the app access to unrelated Google Drive documents, photos, or Gmail messages. Backup files are hidden from the normal Google Drive file list.
Google handles account selection and authorization. ReadAndMark does not receive your Google Account password. The app uses authorization credentials supplied by Google to perform the backup or restore you request.
Google user data accessed for this feature is used only to provide backup and restore. It is not sold or used for advertising, profiling, or training AI models, and is not shared with advertising networks.
ReadAndMark’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements, and the applicable Google Workspace API User Data and Developer Policy.
Premium purchases
ReadAndMark offers an optional Premium upgrade through the Apple App Store or Google Play to unlock reading features beyond the free version’s limits.
Purchases are processed by the relevant store. ReadAndMark does not receive or store payment card details or bank account information. The app uses purchase status and transaction information supplied by the store to confirm ownership, unlock Premium, and restore purchases. A Premium status record is stored locally.
Use Restore Purchase with the same store account used for the original purchase. Purchases are specific to the store and do not automatically transfer between Apple App Store and Google Play. Restoring a reading-data backup does not restore or transfer a Premium purchase.
Advertising
ReadAndMark does not display advertisements or use advertising networks. Google Drive backup data is not used for advertising.
Data retention and deletion
Local reading data remains on your device until deleted through the app or the device’s app-data controls. A restore operation may retain a previous local reading-data file to help protect against data loss; this file is not a separate cloud backup.
Deleting a book locally or uninstalling the app does not automatically delete an existing manual cloud backup. Previously backed-up information may remain until that backup is replaced or deleted. After deleting reading data, creating a new backup with the same cloud account updates the saved backup to reflect the app’s remaining reading data.
You can also use the cloud-data management controls provided by Apple or Google. Google Drive provides controls for hidden application data in its settings. Available iCloud data-management options depend on Apple’s services and your device.
You can revoke ReadAndMark’s access through your Google Account settings. Revoking access prevents future authorized access but does not by itself confirm that a stored backup has been deleted.
Device or operating-system backups may retain app data according to your settings and the provider’s policies. Deleting reading data does not delete purchase records held by Apple or Google.
Support emails
If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and the information you include. We use it to respond to your request and retain it only as long as necessary to handle the inquiry or meet applicable legal obligations. Please avoid including sensitive reading information in support messages.
Children’s privacy
ReadAndMark does not knowingly collect personal information from children through developer-operated services. Optional cloud features use the Apple or Google Account available to the user and are subject to the provider’s account requirements. If you believe a child has sent personal information to us by email, contact us so we can address it.
Security and service providers
Reading data is stored on your device and, when you choose backup, with your selected cloud provider. Protect access to your device and cloud account. No storage or transmission method can guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app’s features or data practices change. Updates will be published with a revised effective date.
